We read everything, and we particularly want to hear about calculations you believe are wrong. If you can point at the table, formula or code section we have misapplied, we will correct it and note the change.

What we cannot help with

We do not answer project-specific technical questions, and we do not review plans, drawings, photographs or specifications. That includes questions of the form “here are my measurements, what size should I use” — whatever the subject.

This is not unwillingness. Advice given for a particular project, to a particular person, is a professional service, and it is one that in many places may only be provided by a licensed engineer, electrician or contractor. We publish general reference tools; we are not your engineer and no exchange with us creates a professional relationship.

For a specific project, ask a licensed professional in your jurisdiction, or your local building department. They can see the conditions we cannot.

Reporting an error

Include the exact inputs you used, the result you got, and the result you expected with its source. That turns a report into something we can test against, and it is the fastest route to a fix.
